A catch up with Round 4 Winner – Steven Giofches

Steven in his winning outfit

Your outfit has amazing colour and points of interest. Tell us how you put it together?

In my opinion outfits are always dependent on the Season.

Autumn to me is more heavier textured fabrics with deeper and solid colours.

This particular outfit was suit first as its dark green colour and texture caught my eye a few months back.

Being autumn in Melbourne, I decided on a merino grey vest matching the suits texture instead of a lighter waist coat fabric.

With the colours green and grey I wanted a stand out tie knowing that burnt orange not only matched well but offered the colours of the changing leaves in autumn.

In this instance, the pocket square was my challenge as I wanted to keep it neutral and not to overpower my outfit.  I wanted it compliment and bring together my shoes and umbrella.

This hat selection was very different to my usual style of a traditional Panama, the Brixton Flat Cap was the perfect choice for autumn racing.

The level of detail that went into Stevens outfit was second to none

How long have you been entering FOTF?

My first entry and win was back in October 2015 for the Yarra Valley Cox Plate in Victoria.

My wife entered me into the category of Gent of the Day without me knowing, to my surprise I came first.

It was such a privilege to be apart of and it wasn’t long before I realised how much I really enjoyed fashion, racing and socialising.

Men’s FOTF has always brought laughter and fun to the track, why do you think men should enter FOTF?

Over the last few years men have become more expressive and daring with fashion with the emphasis on style and looks.

Entering is about giving yourself more confidence and expressing who you are as an individual.

On my personal journey I tried it once and I’ve never looked back.  It’s given me so much satisfaction and inner happiness, the opportunity to share the experience with my kids and meeting like minded people who also enjoy it as much as I do.

Blokes give it a go!

What is your favorite piece of clothing and why?

I can’t say that I have one particular favorite piece of clothing.

For me it’s the piece by piece creation of a complete outfit that brings me to life and makes me feel good.
