A catch up with Round 1 Judge Peta Bell

Round 1 Judge Peta Bell, April 2020

Q. Peta I think it’s safe to say the FOTF community fell in-love with your timeless style which was showcased beautifully last spring, tell us what trends stood out to you in this round?

Hi all, thank you so much it was a huge honour and privilege to have been asked to be on the judging panel for round one. Before discussing trends, can I start by saying that everyone blew us away with their diversity, concepts and how they stayed true to their own style. In regards to trends, rear sitting millinery is here to stay. Also feathers featured everywhere on hats, hems, necklines & sleeves. Berets in all shapes & forms made an appearance. We saw lots of vintage vibes and people playing with textures including metallics & prints. Organza tops proved to be a popular item to transform outfits from spring/summer into autumn appropriate ensembles. Finally, the classic monochrome look rounded out an incredible line up of entrants.

Q: Do you have any advice for our Round 3 entrants?
Last round advice; channel a contemporary, clean & polished look but add your own flare. I am loving houndstooth this season & haven’t seen much of it, yet!
